dc.description.abstractDistrict Faridkot situated in the South-Western side of Punjab 40 kms. from the border of Pakistan: Faridkot-came into existence as a (district in the Political map of Punjab on 07-08-1972. Faridkot is named after the great Sufi Saint Baba Farid. Formaly this city was known as MOKALHER. Faridkot was a small Princely state, this state, which after independence of India along with Patiala, Nabha, Kapurthala and Malerkotla was merged into a Union popularly known as PEPSU (Patiala and East Punjab State Union). Faridkot state was 633 sq.miles (about 1013 sq.km) in area comprising of Easten and Western part the latter part was barren and full of sand dunes There used to be no means of Communication as late as 1960. In spite of all such hazards education facilites were good as compared to* other districts.en_US
