Abstract: Chhindwara district is situated region in the lap of Satpura ranges and has several scenic places. It is believed that it acquired its nomenclature after the name of Chhind trees which grow in abundance here. The district was formed in November 1956. It is situated on Satpura plateau and hes 21.28° to 22.49° north latitude and 78.10° to 79.24° east altitude from south west of the plateau. Its total area is 11,824 sq. km. The district borders Maharastra state in the south, Narsinghpur district in the north, Seoni district in the east and Betul district in the west.
