Abstract: From Foreword: Lifelong in-service education and training keeps professionals alive. The adage assumes significance by the day. The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, National Curriculum Framework-2005 and the Right to Education Act-2009 encompassing the ‘right to learn’ recognize the need to make in-service education for teachers (INSET) an integral part of the futuristic strategy to improve the quality of elementary education. Ministry of Human Resource Development provided timely financial and strategic support to implement this vital quality initiative and sponsored an extensive study to assess the quality of INSET and its impact on classroom transaction in fifteen states. Andhra Pradesh is one of the participating states. The research report highlights the issues relating to the implementation of INSET in Andhra Pradesh.
