dc.description.abstractFrom Educational Scenario: Kolar is an educationally backward district. It is evident from the low female literacy rates. Though the initial enrolment is about 70%, the dropout rates are high. The dropout rates among girls is 35% in the age group of 6 to 10 and 53% in the age group of 11 to 14. Among SC/ST the dropout rate is higher. The district still has 49 single teacher schools, not covered under the Operation Black Board scheme. There are also number of schools, where the number of teachers is less than the Government norm of one teacher per class.en_US
