Abstract: From Foreword: Human rights, disarmament and new international economic order have acquired new importance in the present day world. Creating awareness in our students about the contemporary world problems and making them understand various aspects of these problems should go a long way in promoting international understanding and world peace. From this point of view NCERT readily agreed to implement the Unesco project on the study of world problems on behalf of the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with Unesco.
