dc.description.abstractFrom Introduction: The New Stone Age pictures etched on the walls of Edakkal Caves near Ambalavayal are the oldest evidences of human settlement in Wayanad District. Burial pots and stone age instruments have been excavated from many parts of the District. ‘Veerakkalhe’ (Stone for the brave) associated with the burial cites of heroes abound in Wayanad. Remains of several old Jain settlements and temples are found in this District.en_US
