dc.description.abstractFrom District Profile: Chamba state emerged to form a part of Himachal Pradesh on 15th April 1943 and formed a separate District. The District in present form came into being on 1st November 1966 consequent upon the reorganisation of the erestwhile Punjab when Dalhousie Sub-Tehsil of Gurdaspur District comprising the area of Dalhousie contonment and Bakloh contonment were annexed to it and exclusion of 118 villages of Pangi Tehsil & Dalhousie transferred to Lahaul & Sapiti Distt. during 1974-75.en_US
