dc.description.abstractAs part of the universalization of primary education by increasing enrolment, retention and attendence, the flag ship programme Mid-day meal scheme introduced in 1995. The centrally sponsored scheme originally aimed for children in primary classes in government and aided schools. The scheme was further extended to upper primary classes during the year 2008-09. In Kerala the Mid-day Meal Scheme is being implemented under central assistance as well as state scheme.en_US
