National Programme of Nutritional Support to Primary Education [commonly known as the Mid- Day Meal Scheme] was launched as a Centrally- sponsored Scheme on 15th August, 1995.

MDM - Andhra Pradesh

The Government of Andhra Pradesh introduced the Mid Day Meal Programme in 1982 experimentally in all the Abhyudaya Pradhamika Patasalalu (Model Schools).

The Mid Day Meal Scheme was launched in Haryana on 15th August, 2004.

Mid Day Meal was launched in the Jammu & Kashmir State in September 2004

Mid Day Meal Programme in Karnataka was started during the year 2002-03 in 7 districts of North Eastern Parts, identified as educationally and economically most backward areas. This was further extended to ramaining 23 districts.

MDM - Kerala

The Mid Day Meal Scheme was first introduced in the state of Kerala in1984 in the LP Schools functioning in 222 Villages, having Fishermen as majority. This was gradually extended formally in 1995.
