Abstract

From Introduction: Panchmahal District, with its large tribal population and hilly, forested terrain, is one of the ten backward Districts of Gujarat State. A brief account of the socioeconomic and demographic feature of the District has been presented below. The Administrative headquarters of the District are located at Godhra. There are 9 towns and 1903 villages in the District. For administrative purposes. Panchmahal is divided into 11 talukas at the lowest level of the Panchayati Raj organisation, there are fewer than 1000 village panchayats to administer the village development.
