Evaluation of Mid Day Meal Scheme in Himachal Pradesh

Abstract

From Preface: Indian education system is suffering enrolment, dropout and retention at primary and secondary level. In view of this issue, the Government of India has launched the scheme titled as Mid-Day Meal through which the benefits were targeted to the vulnerable section of the society i.e. the future of the country. This programme has also been introduced in the State in the same perspective. Since there is no data from the studies on the technical, operational and administrative feasibility of MDM implementation in the state, it was considered imperative to carry out mid-term evaluation as per guideline of Government of Himachal to determine the effectiveness, outcome and impact of the scheme. The evaluation study was conducted in six selected district Chamba, Kullu, L & S, Mandi and Sirmaur.
