It contributes to National Development through acquisition and dissemination of specialised knowledge and skills. It is, therefore, a crucial factor for survival. Higher Education being at the apex of the educational pyramid, it has also a key role in producing teachers for the whole education system. Therefore, higher education has to be both- Light- bearing and fruit- bearing more the former than the latter. On the other hand it is also being increasingly felt that the education is to be linked with productivity.en_US
