Though at the time of independence in 1947, Rajasthan State, despite being on educationally backward and with difficult socio-geographic terrain, has made impressive strides in improving elementary education since now a school is accessible within one kilometer of distance for .most habitations. This has been-possible due to the noteworthy innovative UEE projects being implemented since 1990 with their culmination in the form of DPEP and SSA.en_US
