Annual Plan Rajasthan 1977-78

Abstract

Rajasthan's economy is dependent mainly on Agriculture and Animal Husbandry as the contribution from these Sectors is about 54% to the State's net domestic product. The weather and agriculture conditions, therefore, largely influence the economic scene. In the year 1976-77, the early and widespread onset of rains appeared to promise a bumper crop but the heavy down-pour in some districts caused flood conditions affecting kharif production; later the November rains and short spell of winter damaged the rabi crops in some districts. It is expected that the food-grains production in 1976-77 would be about 63.19 lakh tonnes as compared to 77.18 lakh tonnes in the previous year.
