Abstract: The Ministry of Education & Social welfare. Government of India had set up a Working Group on Examination Reforms which besides recommending various measures for rendering the examination system objective based, also recommended that the Boards of Secondary Education should explore possibilities for granting autonomy to selected schools so that education of the children may be freed from the cramping influence of rigid syllabuses, textbooks and external examinations.
