Abstract: From Introduction: This publication is the 12th in the series giving statistics of examination results of Boards of Secondary, Higher Secondary Education and Intermediate/Pre-University Examination for 1995 and 1996. The previous issue contained similar results for 1993 and 1994. Education comprises all deliberate, systematic, organised and sustained forms of communication designed to promote learning. Techniques of evaluation are means of certifying and grading evidence about the students' development in education/learning. The prevalent method of evaluation concerns mainly recall of information, which stresses upon cramming and rote memorization. It further lays more emphasis on scholastic aspects totally ignoring non-scholastic aspects. Other methods include observation techniques, oral tests, practical examinations, etc.
