From Foreword: In our present-day society it has been increasingly felt that the influence of science should be brought to bear on the formulation of public policies. For this it is necessary that parliamentarians— the makers of policies— should be well aware of the developments in science and technology and be acquainted with the scientific point of view. It was with the purpose of bringing parliamentarians and scientists together on a common platform for discussion and exchange of ideas, which could be useful to both, that the Indian Parliamentary and Scientific Committee was formed in August 1961.en_US
