dc.description.abstractFrom Introduction: Mizoram is a small state It is small in size and in population. It is one of the seven sisters - North Eastern states, forming the southern most state, Wedged between Myanmar (Burma) in the east and Bangladesh in the west, it has 7'.2 K.m long international boundary. It has 284 km long inter-state boundary with its three sister states - Tripura in the north-west, Assam in the North and Manipur in the North-East. Mizoram, formerly known as the Lushai Hills, used to be a district of the Assam State. The District was raised to the status of Union territory on 21“ January 1972 under the provision of North Eastern States (Reorganisation) Act 1971, and then granted statehood on 20th February 1987 as the 23rd State under an Act of Parliament - The Constitution (Fifty Third Amendment) Act 1986.en_US
