Abstract

From Policy & Perspective: Universalisation of elementary education and provision of facilities for free education to all children upto the age of 14, as declared in the Directive Principles of the constitution, from an area of major emphasis in the New Education Policy. Access to education of a camparable quality upto a particular level irrespective of the Socio-Economic Background of the student, elimination of disparities in the education systems and improvement in the quality of publicly funded schools have been taken up as major objectives under the NPE.
