Abstract

From Preface: The current issue of the “Fact Book on Manpower in Manipur, 1983” is the Fourth in the series brought out by this Department. It presents a f actual account of manpower Development and utilisation in different occupational categories. One of the principal objectives of planned development is to utilise to the fullest extent possible, the manpower available in different occupational categories at a specific time to create design, develop, manage and operate the various industries and services. It constitutes one of the most economic resources needed for developing and accelerating the rate of economic, social and industrial advancement. Since the Employment Service functions within the existing economic and social frame-work and it has, more than any other agency, a very central and vital role to play in the essential field of manpower development and utilisation, it is necessary that the service should be an active force in providing the basic facts needed to deal with manpower problems intelligently and to help in framing and carrying out manpower policy effectively. This is an important consideration necessitating the preparation and issue of this Fact Book.
