Abstract: From Objectives: The Government of India has stressed that every effort should be made to realise the real goal of Elementary Education in the age group of 6-11 years by the end of Sixth Plan. At the end of March, 1980 total number of Primary Schools was 167 with an enrolment of 25,513. The number of Middle Schools was 35 with an enrolment of 8,099. By the end of March, 1985 it is proposed to cover 18,888 additional children in the age group of 6-11 years i.e. 13,287 at the Primary stage and 5,601 at the Middle stage. To cater to the needs of children, Educational facilities will be provided in the mothertongue of the child according to the requirements of various linguistic groups.
