Education in India 1983-84 Volume 1

Abstract

From Preface: Education in India is brought out annually by the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. This publication contains detailed All India and State-wise statistics, besides giving a brief survey of educational activities in the country during the year under report. The publication is brought out in three volumes--Volume I and Volume II containing the numerical data and financial data respectively and Volume III relating to examination results. The numerical data in Volume I covers information pertaining to institutions, enrolment and teachers only. This publication is divided into two parts. Part I contains an abstract of the publication giving statistical interpretation of important educational data along with key statistics on education at All India level. Besides, it also contains a general survey of the developments in the field of education at the centre and in States during the year 1983-84; Part-II comprises of detailed state-wise statistical tables relating to various aspects of education, namely, institutions, enrolment and teachers for which the requisite information was obtained from the Offices of Education Directors of the States and UTs. in prescribed ES-I form.
