The Himalayas are the world's highest, largest and youngest mountain ranges. Goepolitically speaking the Himalaya encompasses Jummu & Kashmir, Uttaranchal, Nepal, Himachal Pradesh, Darjeeling Hills, Sikkmi Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. There are also the perennial source of great river systems of India and Pakistan, Viz., The Brahmaputra, the Ganges, the Indus including their tributaries. Himalayas are Sacred to the Hindus in many ways especially because it is believed the greatest Hindu God Lord Shiva has his abode on the sacred mountain Kailash and married Parvati, the doughter of Himachal.en_US
