dc.description.abstractFrom Introduction: Madhya Pradesh with about 4th of the Country’s total tribal population has the largest tribal concentration for any State in the Country. The total number of the Scheduled Tribes in the State is 46. The tribal population of 119.87 lakhs accounts for 22.97% of the State’s total population of 521,78 lakhs (Census 1981). The geographical area with tribal concentration is estimated at 177132 Sq.kms., which is 40% of the total geographical area of the State. Of the 45 districts in the State, 4 district are fully covered and 31 districts are partially covered under the Tribal Sub-Plan, The number of villages in the State is 77090 out of which 29043 villages fall in the Sub-Plan area.en_US
