Abstract: India‟s education system expanded exponentially over the past five decades. Its current achievements are grossly inadequate for the nation to realize its potential greatness. India‟s enrolment rate - cutting across gender, region, class, caste, states, rural-urban divides - has witnessed remarkable improvement in the last decades of 20th century. However, gap remains in retention rate/checking of dropout rates, which is the focus of the report.
