Abstract: Before going into details of education in Delhi let us have a look at some of the important aspects that influence it. Delhi being the capital of India, is a cosmopolitan city, abound with educational and job opportunities. It has witnessed a steep rise in population - from about 2 million in 1947 to more than 14 million at present. It is expected to grow up to 23 million by 2021. This growth of population is largely due to the migration of people from other places. The average growth rate of population is estimated to be 4.8% per year during the last six decades. It is more than the national population growth rate. It includes 0.16 million people migrating to the city every year. It is estimated that around 1000 people add to the population of Delhi every year.
