Basic Statistics of Arunachal Pradesh (1950-51-1986-87)

Abstract

From Introduction: At the very outset I am greatful to Shri R. Padnnanabhan, the Secretary to the Hon'ble Governor of Arunachal Pradesh to have bestowed me with the concept of bringing out this publication highlighting position of developments that took place in this State from time to time. For all practical purposes, developmental activities in the State may be taken to have commenced from the first five year plan i.e. from 1951-52. Achievements if any made prior to that year, was very insignificant. As such pace of development during last three, and half decades since 1950-51 have been signified by ten important stages having relevance to Arunachal Pradesh. Details of these stages are indicated in the beginning at Table 1.2 to facilitate the reader to get a clear idea.Table 1.1 shows the important stages of plan period, Annual plan period, attainment of Union Territory status and Statehood in Arunachal Pradesh. The figures given, against 1950-51 may there fore, be read as what was initially existing.
