Abstract: From Preface: Future of the country is shaped in the present class room, the class rooms on the other hand are in the control of teachers. Therefore, for progress and development. Nations needs empowered and teachers committed. Hence, all attempts much be taken to prepare teachers so that they can participate meaningfully in the process of curriculum transaction thereby contribute effectively in achieving the educational goals. In Assam teachers educator is not getting its due place. Pre-service Teacher training courses stopped functioning since 1977. Though it was reappeared in year 2000, it did not continue for reasons unknown. As a result, the percentage of trained teachers in Assam specially in the Upper Primary and Secondary levels are very low. In the initiative of District Primary Education Status of Programme teacher Training of the Lower Primary level has considerably improved. Now, Sarva Sikha Abhijan is putting much effort to train the teachers of the Middle level also.
