Abstract

Education in India is brought out annually by the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource development. This publication contains detailed All India and Statewise statistics. The publication is brought out in three volumes-Volume I and Volume II containing the numerical data and financial data respectively and Volume III relating to examination results. From this year i.e. 1984-85, the numerical data has been-bifurcated into two volumes i.e. Volume I(S) covering the numerical data of School Education and covering the numerical data of Collegiate Education. Similarly, Vol II will be in two sets on the lines Volume 1. This publication Volume 1(C) is for 1984-85 for numerical data covering the information pertaining to institutions, enrolment and teachers relating to Higher Education only. The entire publication is divided into two parts. Part I contains an abstract of the publication giving statistical interpretation of important educational data along with key statistics on Higher"Education at all India level, part II comprises of detailed Statewise statistical tables relating to various aspects of University & Collegiate Education namely, institutions, enrolment and teachers for which the requisite information was obtained from the Directorates of Education of the States and Union Territories in prescribed ES.I(C) form. It is believed that this publication will be useful to education planners and policy makers in the field of education and allied sectors, as well as those engaged in research.
