Education in India 1981-82 Volume 1: Numerical Data

Abstract

‘Education in India' is brought out annually by the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. This publication contains detailed State-wise statistics besides a brief survey of educational activities in the country during the year under report. The publication is brought out in three volumes—Volume I relating to numerical data, Volume II relating to financial data and Volume III relating to examination results. The numerical data in Volume 1 covers information pertaining to institutions, enrolment and teachers only. This publication is divided into two parts. Part I gives the general survey of the developments in the field of education at the Centre and in the States besides giving all India statistics. Part II comprises State-wise statistical tables relating to various aspects of education in respect of institutions, enrolment and teachers for which the required information was supplied by the Education Directorates of the States and Union Territories in ES series of form. An interpretation of all India statistics has, however, been given in general survey of Volume I.
