Abstract: This study was conducted by the Teacher Professional Development Research and Incubation Facility, School of Education Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) to strengthen the recognition and inspection process of TEIs in India. It has been supported and funded by MHRD. This Handbook is meant for those engaged in the process of ensuring quality in the TEI and preparing for the inspection visit by TEIC. It has been designed to: (a) Provide a brief context of TEI inspections and its overall role in recognition of a TEI (b) Detail the suggested composition of the Applicant Team (c) Describe steps that the TEI must take to ensure that the application is filled correctly, is useful during inspections and assists in recognition of a TEI.
