Abstract

The centrally sponsored scheme fur District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) was initiated during the seventh five year plan. Since then DIETs have developed in varying ways in different states. While some DIETs arc well o r their way to becoming academic resource institutions for the districts as envisaged in the DIHT scheme, others have a long way to go.
