Abstract: Foundational Literacy and Numeracy is the building block for all future learning. For the first time, the National Education Policy 2020 recognises the importance of foundational literacy and numeracy skills and calls for the same to be achieved by all children urgently. To achieve this target, the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education launched National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) Bharat Mission. This Mission is a critical time-bound initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India that lays out the guiding and implementing framework in the form of guidelines to achieve all set targets.
