Abstract: | This paper discusses the current development of undergraduate and postgraduate engineering education in India, and presents two case studies detailing the engineering education programmes of two nationally and internationally leading institutions: the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi, and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. The case studies focus on several important aspects, such as the administrative structures, departments and centres, admission procedures, course structures, scholarships, methods of teaching, evaluation of performances, research, practical training, industry links, continuing education and the resources available at these institutions. |
