dc.description.abstractThe work on the preparation of the present document had its beginning when the NCERT constituted in 1983 a working Group to make a quick appraisal of the existing curricula at the school stage in different States and Union Territories and to access these from the point of view of instructional load. Simultaneously, the NCERT had also initiated some research and evaluation studies related to different aspects of the curriculum. These highlighted the need to evolve a national curricular framework for primary and secondary education with a common scheme of studies.en_US
