Abstract: | The committee visited the Meenakshi Medical College & Research Institute on 16th July 2004. The committee inspected all the Departments of the Medical College and the attached Hospital. The committee had discussions with the Vice Chancellor, Dean, Faculty, Paramedical Staff, Students and Office Bearers of the Institution. The committee physically verified the availability of physical and academic infrastructure in the College. In particular Out-Patient Department, Casualty and Emergency Block, Laboratories including Blood Bank, X-ray and Radio-diagnostic facilities, Medical Records Section, Indoor Wards, ICU (Both Medical & Surgical). Other Para Clinical departments like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Animal House were visited. The committee members also visited Library, Lecture Theatres, Seminar Rooms, Hostels & Staff Quarters, Playground and Cafeteria. The committee was impressed with the existing facilities and the infrastructure developed within a short span of time. The committee noted that the Meenakshi Medical College & Research Institute has got approval from the Medical Council of India for admitting the Second Batch of 100 Students of MBBS. |
