dc.description.abstractAfter the difficulties faced by the national economy last year, there have been very encouraging signs of strong performance during the current year. The second quarter of 2003-04 saw a growth in real GDP of 8.4% as against 5.2% for the corresponding quarter in the last year. Over all, this works out to 7% for the half year compared to 5.2% for the first half of 2002-03 enabling revision of the growth forecast for 2003-04 to over 7%. The comparative growth of GDP during the first half of this year and the last year is given.en_US
