Though overall economic trends in the country during 1978 have been characterised by a fair degree of stability, and may be interpreted as a further enlargement of elements favourable to output expansion, certain details of the general economic picture have, however, been less favourable. While during 1977-78, gross national income showed a marked increase of 704 per cent over the previous year's performance, the rate of growth expected during 1978-79 is only about half of what has been achieved during 1977-78.en_US
