State Adult Education Programme (Self Sufficiency Scheme): A Report of The Projects 1980 Pudukkottai District

Abstract

From Foreword: Adult Education Programme should be a mass movement To eradicate illiteracy of several lakhs of people in the State is no easy task. The launching of Self-sufficiency Scheme in the State came in handy for the implementation of Adult Education Programme. Under the Self-sufficiency Scheme 69 blocks were selected in Tamil Nadu. Out of 69 blocks, in 61 blocks Adult Education Programme was launched in January/February 1980, the remaining eight blocks having been already covered under a different programme and the first phase of the Programme came to a close in November/December 1980.
