Abstract: From Preface: As per the 1991 census, 90 per cent of the women work force is engaged in informal sector for livelihood. Besides, in the absence of proper legislative protections, these women are considered vulnerable to various forms of social and economic exploitations. Nevertheless, the plight of the women particularly living below the poverty line is more pronounced in view of their comparative disadvantageous place in the matters, like, economic and social status, education, health, etc.
