dc.description.abstractFrom Foreword: The scheme of "Universalisation of Elementry Education" launched by the Govt, of India with the help of Europian communities have envisaged a District Primary Education Programme in Madhya Pradesh. In this state this project is being implemented, in 29 districts in which 5 educationally backward tribal predominant districts have also been included. In the tribal areas of the state the main responsibility of imparting education has been entrusted to the scheduled tribes, scheduled castes and Backward classes Welfare Department. As a pre-requisite of the project DPEP, a status report on tribal education had to be prepared.en_US
