Education At A Glance 1999-2000

Abstract

From Preface: Maharashtra is a leading State in the field of Education, and ‘Education for All’ is a main goal of the Government. The State endeavours to achieve universal elementary education by the year 2010. The State has already made education free for all students up to the 10th standard and for girls up to the 12th standard. In addition all efforts are being made to enrol all children in rural, remote and tribal areas in schools. To encourage backward class, EBC and other depressed class students to continue their education, many schemes ere being implemented. The success of such schemes depends on reduction in dropout rate.
