It constitutes the highest single component in the Budget. The expenditure on education has been steadily rising as may be seen from the figures of Rs. 123 crores under Education Demand spent in 1975-76 (Accounts 75-76) and Rs. 136 crores in 1976-77 (R.E. 1976-77).en_US
