dc.description.abstractFrom Foreword: Educational Surveys have a vital role to play in the perspective planning of educational facilities. The first two all-India surveys on education conducted in 1957 and 1965 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, were related to school education only and did not cover higher education at all. The present one is the third in the series of All-India Educational Survey and covers higher education for the first time. In the area of higher education, the Survey was undertaken by the University Grants Commission on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Social Welfare. The present survey was to be much wider and extensive in scope and mote closely related to the programmes we had in view for the fifth five year plan.en_US
