Abstract: From Indian Polity: India is a Union of States with a written Constitution. It enjoys a Cabinet form of Government at the Union and State levels. The Union and the States have legislatures with duly elected representatives. The legislative jurisdictions of the Union and States have been outlined in the Constitution. There are in all 22 States. There are territories administered by Union Government called Union Territories. These are 9 in number.
