In the report for 1934-35 reference was made to the strenuous efforts made to effect economies in Government expenditure on Education. It was shown that in the course of the last four years a decrease of Rs. 1,40,638 per annum had been effected in (government expenditure l)y March 1935, in spite of the fact that the total expenditure on public instruction had increased by Rs. 33,856 in that year. Under these circumstances, a further reduction in Government expenditure is impossible without affecting efficiency.en_US
