Education in India 1994-95 Volume I(S)

Abstract

From Preface: "Education in India" is an annual publication of the Department of Secondary & Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. The publication is brought out in five volumes, Vol.I(S) containing numerical data on school education, Vol.II(S) financial data on school education, Vol.l(C) numerical data on university and higher education, Vol.ll(C) financial data on university and higher education and Vol.III relating to examination results data on secondary/higher secondary and higher education levels. The present publication Vol.l(S) relates to the year 1994-95 and contains State-wise statistics on school education i.e., institutions, enrolment, teachers, enrolment ratios and drop out rates, etc. Some of the other important indicators like dependency rates and percentage decrease/ increase in the number of out-of-school children according to the 1981 and 1991 Census have also been given in this publication for the country as a whole and for the States/ UTs. Since the educational statistics in reject of Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Lakshadweep for the Year 1994-95 have not been received, the data for these States/UTs for the previous year has been repeated.
