Statistics of School Education 2007-2008

Abstract

From Preface: The "Statistics of School Education” has been an annual Publication brought out by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. The data of this publication is provisional. It contains statistical data on important educational indicators on different parameters of school education, population, literacy and budgetary expenditure on education. The data on school education includes information from Pre-primary to standard XII, open learning education, examination results, ITIs/ITCs, Teachers Training Schools, EGS/AIE Centers etc. The population data includes Census data and projected population of the school going children of all categories, SZ/ST and rural areas in the age-group of 6-11, 11-14, 14-18, and 18-24 respectively which has been projected on the basis of the Report of the Technical Group on Population Projections constituted by the National Commission on Population, Office of the Registrar General of india and Census Data, 2001. The data on literacy have been taken from Census of India and NSSO Sunveys.
