Abstract: From Foreword: The Massive Teachers' Training Programme for the State came suddenly in the wake of the New Education Policy. With limited time disposal, four key resource persons, rather ignorant of the whole issue, were deputed to Shillong to attend a three days Orientation Programme held for the North Eastern States During the course of this Orientation, it was learnt that the nation proposed to train five lakh teachers in 10,000 camps all over the country. Sikkim's share of responsibility came as 487 teachers. On returning from Shillong, the key resource persons work for the massive teacher orientation gained momentum with the full hearted support from the Secretary, Education Deptt., the Joint Secretary for Education and the present Director of Education. The important preliminary spade work required to launch the massive training also received full co-operation from the Government.
