Abstract: The Institute was originally started in February, 1962 as the Regional Centre for the Training of Educational Planners, Administrators and Supervisors in Asia, jointly by the Government of India and UNESCO. It was renamed as the Asian Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in April, 1965. The National Staff College for Educational Planners and Administrators was established by the Government of India in December 1970, and renamed as the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in May, 1979.
